Monastery Tour
8 days/ 7 nights

1st Day:
Arrival in Sofia. Accommodation. Walking tour of the central part of Sofia – Alexander Nevski Cathedral (build in 1912), St. Sofia Church, The Parliament, the Bulgarian Academy of Science, St. Nikolay Russian Church, the National Theater, the National Archeological Museum, the Presidency, the Council of Ministers, the remains of old Bulgarian capital – Serdika, St. George Rotunda, St. Nedelya Church. Overnight in Sofia.

2 nd Day:
Breakfast. Departure for Rila Monastery (The biggest monastery in the peninsula Balkanica from X c. AD. The Rila monastery lies in the very Rila mountain, at 1147 m above sea level. Visit the monastery church Nativity of the Virgin with priceless wall paintings, icons, wooden iconostasis, magernitsa (old kitchen), the history museum and Hrelyo Tower ). Lunch. Departure for Sandanski (one of the famous SPA centers in Bulgaria). Accommodation and overnight in Sandanski.

3 rd Day:
Breakfast. Departure for Melnik (one of the oldest cities in Bulgaria and the smaller town in the country). Visit the Museum of History, taste the famous wine in Melnik (in Kordopulova House – its history through centuries interesting and magica valuable and with eternal architecture,it is one of the most significant constructions in Melnik). Lunch in typical restaurant. Departure for Plovdiv. Accommodation and overnight in Plovdiv.

4 th Day:
After breakfast we are going to visit the town of Plovdiv the second biggest town in Bulgaria. The Old Plovdiv is famous with the Rome theatre and its National Revival architecture. Many of the houses are now museums: the Ethnographic Museum, the Museum of the National Revival and the National Liberation struggles, the Alphonse de Lamartine museum house. Departure for Bachkovo monastery. The monastery is dated from XI c. AD. Return to Plovdiv.

5 th Day:
Breakfast. Departure for Veliko Tarnovo – the former capital of the Second Bulgarian Kingdom. On the road visit reserve architectural Bojency. Lunch in typical restaurant in Bojency. After lunch we are going to Etara (an unique open-air ethnographical museum, where you can see how handicrafts workshops used to work two centuries ago on the basis of water power). Visit monastery of Dryanovo. Accommodation and overnight in Veliko Tarnovo.

6 th Day:
Breakfast. Visit Tsarevets (is a medieval stronghold located on a hill), Arbanasi (5 km from Veliko Tarnovo - It is known for the rich history and large number of historical monuments, such as 17th and 18th century churches and examples of Bulgarian National Revival architecture, which have turned it into a popular tourist destination.).  Return to Veliko Tarnovo. Overnight in the hotel.

Optional: The "Tsarevgrad Turnov – Sound and Light" ("Zvuk i svetlina") audio-visual show is an unique attraction. The programme was created by a team of Bulgarian and Czech specialists managed by Vulo Radev and Jaromir Hnick. The first ever release of the programme was in 1985, to commemorate 800 years since the rebellion of the brothers Asen and Peter.

7 th Day:
Breakfast. Departure for Troyan Monastery (is the third largest monastery in Bulgaria. It is located in the northern part of the country in the Balkan Mountains and was founded no later than the end of the 16th century). After that visit Koprivshtitsa (one of the characteristic Bulgarian towns, still preserving the atmosphere of the Bulgarian National Revival period of the 19th century. The town is huddled in the mountain folds 111 km east of Sofia). Departure for Sofia.  Accommodation and overnight in Sofia.

8 th Day:
Breakfast. Transfer to the airport.
